의미: 불법으로 몰래 / 뒤에서 살짝 은밀하게

*Tip: 탁자 밑으로 돈을 주고 받으면, 보이지 않고 은밀하게 처리 가능하니까 이런 표현을 쓰네요!

예문 1. They offered him money under the table to change his mind.

해석: 그 사람들 말야, 저 자식 마음 바꾸려고 뒷돈까지 썼어.

예문 2. If you want to get a good apartment, you may have to give the manager some money under the table.

해석: 좋은 집 사려면 뒤에서 청탁하는 것도 해야지 어쩔 수 없어요.

예문 3. She cycled through seven under-the-table jobs as a babysitter, housekeeper, waitress and construction worker - within the first year.

해석: 우리 언니는 첫 해 무려 일곱가지 비정규직 일을 했어요. 아이도 돌보고, 가사 도우미도 하고, 식당에서도 일하고, 공사 현장에서도 일했죠.
